I have been reading & collecting for over thirty years and recently picked up Maus, it had been on my must get & read list for quite awhile, but kept getting bumped. It was worth the wait. A clever, beautiful, haunting and honest tale of a father & son coming to terms with each other during the fathers' recounting of his experiences in Poland during WWII leading up to his hell and survival of Auschwitz, the Nazi's final solution. Art Spiegelman's Pulitzer Prize rendering is not only good r...[Click title to read more]

DC's The New 52

Posted on October 11, 2011 by Andyrox

When I first heard about DC’s latest re-launch, I have to admit my stomach rolled, “Not again?!” I thought ; “here comes another marketing ploy to make us buy ten million variant covers of the same story!” However, I picked up Flashpoint just to see what was going on, not only was I surprised by the content I was impressed that there weren’t a gazillion crossovers into other titles, it was pretty well self-contained. The story impressed me enough to do something I haven’t done in over tw...[Click title to read more]

Yesterday my son & I went to see Marvel's latest to film adaptation of one of their classic characters, Thor. One word; WHOA!!!!! Free Comic Book Day

Kudos and a huge shout out to the guys at Cosmix, for a day to be remembered.
In the weeks leading up to yesterdays events; Pierre, Sylvain and Ray along with their support staff and cast of characters waiting in the wings to help out, pulled off an event unlike any that this fan has seen in 25 plus years of collecting.
By 9:55 am yesterday morning 5 minutes prior to opening their doors there were at least 45-50 fans (old and new alike) queued in line at the door in eager anticipation...[Click title to read more]

Old Is New Again

Posted on December 17, 2009 by Andyrox

In today's world everything is brighter, quicker and slicker, leaving old stalwarts eating their dust so to speak, and this bodes true for the comic book industry, from better paper quality, to computerised colour separation and so on, new characters who are bigger, badder, stronger ,faster, sexier etc... But every now and then the old classics get revamped to give creators the oppurtunity to work on their childhood favorites and introduce a new generation of readers to the characters in that...[Click title to read more]
